The 5th Annual Conference of the Epilepsy Alliance Africa (EAA) will take place on 17โ€“18 September 2025 during Zebra Epilepsy Stripes Week. The opening session will feature Mr Youssouf Noormamode, C.S.K., newly elected International Vice President of the International Bureau for Epilepsy (IBE) African Region.

Mr Noormamode is the founder and President of EDYCS Epilepsy Group Mauritius, an organisation dedicated to supporting people with epilepsy and their families. He previously served as Vice-Chair of the IBE African Region and has long been active in epilepsy advocacy across Africa and beyond.

He is also Chairperson of the Africa Disability Alliance, a technical agency that works to provide expertise and examples of good practice for disability policy formulation, programming, and implementation. In addition, he serves as a member of the WHO Civil Society Commission and sits on the IBE GENS Expert Advisory Board.

In recognition of his work, Mr Noormamode was conferred the award title of Asia International Epilepsy Ambassador by Asia Awards in December 2023. His presence at the conference reflects the important role of civil society and disability movements in uniting voices for epilepsy advocacy and action in Africa.
