The Epilepsy Alliance Africa (EAA), a young Africa-wide alliance of epilepsy associations formed in December 2019, will host its 5th Annual Conference during Zebra Epilepsy Stripes Week, Africaโs homegrown epilepsy awareness event.
The conference will officially open on 17 September 2025 with a keynote session led by:
- Professor Alla Guekht, President of the International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE)
- Professor Najib Kissani, President of the EAA
- Mr Youssouf Noormamode, International Bureau for Epilepsy (IBE) Africa Region Chairperson
During this session, Professor Kissani will also launch Zebra Epilepsy Stripes Week.
Theme: Uniting Voices for Epilepsy: Advocacy, Innovation and Impact | Working towards reaching African targets of the Intersectoral global action plan (IGAP) on epilepsy and other neurological disorders
Call for attendance
Epilepsy advocates, health professionals, policymakers, researchers, carers, and persons with lived experience are invited to attend to:
- Share knowledge and experiences
- Exchange strategies for advocacy and innovation
- Strengthen collective efforts towards defeating epilepsy in Africa
